Schneider, the Director of The Schneider
Centre for Learning disABILITIES has
been an educator in various roles since
1988. She has been valuing learning
differences in her private learning
centre since 1994, first in Toronto,
and now in Barrie, Ontario.
After
earning a Bachelor of Arts degree
in Psychology from the University
of Waterloo, she continued her quest
to learn more about learning differently
at
the Institute for Studies in Learning
Disabilities at the University of
St. Jerome's College, University of
Waterloo
in a teacher training program at the
Canadian Heritage School in Toronto;
a private school that was designed
specifically for students who have
learning disabilities,
and
by becoming a certified advocate with
the Learning Disabilities Association
of Ontario.
She
recently completed two post-graduate
certificates from Cambrian College
in Sudbury, Ontario: Learning Disabilities
Educator, Assistive Technologist,
and Learning Disabilities Educator,
Learning Strategist.
Patti
fully believes in the Chinese proverb,
"Give a man a fish and he will
eat for a day. Teach a man to fish
and he will eat for the rest of his
life." Through the services provided
at the SC4LD, she hopes to teach teachers,
parents and students who are affected
by learning disabilities "how
to fish".
Patti
strives to provide an opportunity
for all students with Learning disABILITIES
to develop tools and strategies that
maximize academic potential, promote
self-esteem, and instill confidence
in a caring and nurturing environment.
